As mentioned in WPTools5Upgrade.pdf, be sure you make the following changes to your Uses clause:
Change WPDefs, WPObj, WPRtfText, and WPRTFIO all to WPRTEDefs. It sounds like you possibly left in WPRTFIO in there?
Julian suggests you delete all wp* units from the uses clause of each unit, add units WPRTEPaint and WPObj_Image, and let Delphi add the other required units.
If you haven't had a chance yet to read WPTools5Upgrade.pdf, I suggest you do so. Like you, I went directly from V3 to V5. I found lots of interesting and useful stuff I needed to know concerning upgrading in that manual.
