Word these days seems to convert a typed - (dash, minus sign) to a long dash of some sort, if I try and copy/paste this into wprichtext, it does not seem that I am able to change the color of this dash.
Any ideas?

It is possible that this dsah is inserted as object, not a character.
Maybe I switched off some silliness - I can paste "Aaa - aaaa" from word.

Yes, it appears that when it is pasted into wprichtext or in a file opened, it comes in to wprichtext as an object. It shows a hand cursor. Can I make my import no allow objects to come in?
I tested with Word, and you are right. You must have turned off automatic dashes.
If i type hello - and goodbye,
the dash gets changed to a different thing. I can undo or turn off, but I can't know or tell users to do that, so I need to get rid of it some way like deny objects.
