Strategies for working with multiple field edit forms

I'm a newbie to WPTools and the mailmerge/form functions.

The question;

I have many different addenda to a main contract which will utilize some of the same database fields as the main contract.

I'm assuming that once a form is created with all of its field references that it can be "recalled" by the end user with the data already populated, (since they have filled in the main contract) and they can simply print it? Or, do they have to pull up the addenda at all? Is it possible that once the main contract form is completed that all addenda could be printed out, filled in with the data they entered on the main contract?

Please check out the chapter Mailmerge in the PDF manual.

To set and recall the data inside the merge fields use the event OnMailMergeGetText.

If you execute MergeText() in the event DataSet.OnScroll there is even a live view on the dataset possible.

Are there any methods for creating input fields directly from tables?

In other words, can I "point" a method at a TTable descendant and have it create the merge fields for me?

Hi,

No, but it should be really easy to loop all Fields in a TDataset and call Inputfield for each of them.

See the collection Fields in the TDataSet component (a TTable is a TDataSet).
