No, for the next time there will be no .NET version of WPTools. I tested how this works (performance and memory consumption) and was not satisfied. Since it would depend on VCL.NET I also do not see much sense here. The .NET paradigm has a way complex memory management - always active check of array bounds and object pointer verification - that slows down an editor a lot. Note that the .NET RichTextBox is not 'managed' either 🙂
TextDynamic is based on almost all the components WPCubed sells and makes their functionality available to .NET and VB developers. It is currently not available for VCL - but if there is demand I can do that, too. the wrapper has been developed in C# - so I can compile it with framework 2, too. The ActiveX could be used with Delphi - but a native VCL wrapper is always better.
The ideas behind the interfaces it publishes can be found in WPTools too. (ie. the mail merge event with the 'Contents' object) but the programming is different. The merge and report forms will be compatible of course. I expect that TextDynamic customers only write a few lines - and are done. This product is easier to understand and has fewer possibilities to pick a wrong method or property.
Although the list of methods is now much longer that I have ever expected it to be.
thanks for that info. I was just curious if a .NET version (or VCL.NET) is in sight. Although i do not need it currently (but that may change from day to day...).
