Chinese language problem

  • Hello Julian,

Several our customers, using Chinese language, have problems.
They are not able to delete Chinese characters.
    How to reproduce:

    1. Type in a few Chinese characters using alphabetic combinations such as "yi", "zhi", "qi", "wu" which should translate to Chinese characters then press BACKSPACE - you'll see that it works.

    2. Hit ENTER after a few Chinese characters to go to a new line and try to press BACKSPACE - you'll not be able to delete any characters unless you press 12 times BACKSPACE .

    3. After keying in a longer sentence eg. 20+ different Chinese characters, use your mouse to position in the middle of the line and press a series of BACKSPACE and DELETEs - you'll might see that some of the Chinese characters change into squares instead!

    Hi,

I asume the problems are caused by characters which consist of more than a single wide char. WPTools would only do normal unicode. Since CJK fonts have overlapping unicodes it is required that the character set is correctly set, otherwise Windows may display incorrect characters. It would be interesting to know, if the \u unicodes are still intact when saving to RTF.

I have no possibility to deal with chinese more deeply at this moment.
